As a thank-you present for elyssadc (and inspired by a recent conversation with alouzon) I decided to do a fanmix for Jamie - and I ended up doing one for Fourteen as well, since I'm currently working on her character development for my fics. So, here are the two fanmixes, for anybody who might be interested. Enjoy!

loves_them_all is extending Companion Posting Month in order to spread the love to the companions that never made it to the April calendar, and it would be great to have more people sign up for this.

The companions that haven't been claimed so far are:
  • Adric

  • Ian Chesterton

  • Compassion

  • Chris Cwej

  • Destrii

  • Roz Forrester

  • Frobisher

  • Grace Holloway

  • Sam Jones

  • Kamelion

  • Sara Kingdom

  • Kroton

  • Trix MacMillan

  • Grant Markham

  • Adam Mitchell (yes, he counts. Shut up)

  • Astrid Peth

  • Izzy Sinclair

  • Ssard

  • Stacy Townsend

  • Mike Yates

  • I've just requested Katarina (what's with me and historical companions?) and I have this enormous urge to give my first-born to stunt_muppet for chosing to do Ben and Polly in one go, since they're inseparable anyway - the trouble is, said first-born is already reserved for Two and Jamie to raise as their own :P So, I hope she won't mind getting my second child instead; the third will go to whoever picks Sara Kingdom.

Anyway, you can request your companion here.

I have finished writing Jamie's biography for loves_them_all's Companion Posting Month (and I hope it doesn't suck *crosses fingers*) and I'm currently working on the second post for that project, which is a picspammy list of reasons why he is such an amazing character. So far I have a few points (enough for a good list, actually) but I'd love to hear what makes you love the boy so much.

So, feel free to comment to this post with reasons why Jamie McCrimmon rocks your socks. If you have an image or a quote to illustrate those reasons, feel free to add them as well. I'll credit you in the list :)
Keep in mind that Two/Jamie and the kilt were the very first thing I thought about :P

Also, since the third post will feature links and recs, you can also link me to a Jamie fic you might like, or to a Jamie website or community.

Jamie Day will be next Monday, so you have until Sunday to contribute. I'll be looking forward to your ideas.

This episode was never shown on BBC Prime, and I can see why. The theme is very controversial, and I can easily see the more PC people being unable to realize the social comments and satire of the script and vetoing its broadcast because it’s “OMG insulting!”

As you know, originally I had planned to take notes while watching The Invasion for the first time in order to post a comprehensive review later. However, this has turned from a review to a recap, and since it's huge I think it's better if I fragment this and deal with a couple of episodes a time - and since it appears that it might take a while for me to finish this (let's not forget it's an eight-episode serial), this change will allow you to read the beginning of this earlier than with my previous plan.

Here's the first instalment of my Invasion recap, then:

As promised, here's the first of my reviews of those DVDs I recently bought. For curiosity's sake, I've decided to tackle the Goodies DVD by watching those I hadn't seen before yet, so I'm going to kick off with Come Dancing.

This episode had the same fate of many Doctor Who adventures from the Hartnell and Troughton era: it was taped over, and believed to be lost forever. A black and white version was found, however, which was better than nothing. And recently, the impossible happened: a low-band colour version was discovered, and presented in the Network DVD in full colour for the first time since its original transmission. Of course, low-band means low-band, and in spite of having been through a careful process of restoration the quality is still far from perfect, especially when compared to the other episodes on this volume. Still, it's a lost gem, and must be seen as such in spite of the occasional image deformities and sound problems.

    Anyway, on to the review.

My comments on Come Dancing, as it happens.Collapse )

Yesterday, lessthanpie decided to give a challenge to her flist - writing a ficlet of kissing for the person's current favorite OTP.
The prompt she gave me was teddy bear. Initially, I thought of writing a M*A*S*H fic (Trapper/Margaret, obviously) since it would be easy to insert Radar's bear in it, but my ootp_newts muses had a different idea and gave me this plot bunny instead. Enjoy!

    Title: Tinsel and Bug Antennae
    Author: Me
    Fandom: Harry Potter (ootp_newts-verse)
Pairing: a couple of quirky Ravenclaws we all know and love
Timeline: Before Christmas 1996 (in other words, HBP)
Rating: G (with added AWWW for cuteness)
Disclaimer: Everything is JK Rowling. Everything. So don't sue.
    Word Count: 670
Feedback: Yes, please - even if only to say "OMGLUNABELONGSTONEVILLEYOUBITCH!"
Spoilers: None that I know of.
Summary: Something else besides socks has been found in the seventh-year boys' dorm...

This is the list of books I am planning to read this year. As with the previous list, I'll add books to it whenever I manage to get my hands on something new, and I'll strike a book once I finish it.

Ages ago, I promised lucy_lupin I'd surprise her with a ficlet starring ickle firstie!Stebbins. Well, that ficled developed into the "1989" installment of this, which now revolves around the three characters I play on the ootp_newts RPG. Each of my babies has a chance to be under the spotlight now, as I show them in other eras outside of that one in which the game is set.
Even if you're not on this RPG, but you like Harry Potter fics, I hope these will amuse you.

As most of you know, I play Stebbins (newt_stebbins) in the ootp_newts RPG, and have recently picked Leanne (newt_leanne). Since I've done picspams of Stebbins' PB, I'm also going to do one for Leanne now. And, since their PBs are both from a kiddies' soap opera I really really dislike (which allows me to be impartial - and joke about it - when I write them) prepare for some (slight) moments of silliness in my comments:

As most of you know, I play Stebbins in the ootp_newts RPG - and, for kicks, decided to use Afonso Pimentel, an actor from a soap opera I hate, as his PB. Anyway, I found some more pictures of Afonso, and decided to share them with the rest of the ON gang that inhabit my flist:

    Pretty but immature.Collapse )

Also, Hayley and I have been discussing my grabbing a second character for this game. And, since I'll follow the same PB policy I did for Stebbins, I'm sure the Portuguese on my flist will have a good giggle when they find out that Mystery Girl will look like this.

For those of you who missed it, this nutcase called Chris Crocker posted a video on YouTube on defense of Britney Spears:

Now, Seth Green has made a video about Chris Crocker that just needs to be seen:

Like I said in the title: Seth rocks. Oh, and Chris sucks, though that goes without saying.

I decided to make this post to tease Fawcett as a treat to lucy_lupin, she_who_dares, celebren and anyone else who is part of the ootp_newts RPG. It's a compilation of all the pics I found of Portuguese actor Afonso Pimentel (who plays Afonso Fritzenwalden in the Portuguese version of the worst soap opera ever made, Floribella), who I am using as PB for my character there, Stebbins.
Considering the popularity of this soap, I thought it would be a doozy to get pictures of Afonso online, but it turned out to be rather difficult; after some consideration, I have realized that this is because most fans of this show are aged 4-12 and don't have access to good capping software (or if they have, their parents won't let them touch it for something that stupid). Still, I found enough beauties to tease Fawcett make some icons.

    Teh picspam.Collapse )

And his name is Zyrxy! That's heaps cooler than if he was... Bob, or something :P

ETA: Zyrxy has turned into a wolf now. Cool! I'll be looking forward to see what his definite form will be like.
